Ethel Woolson Lab – “The Actors”

The Actors that participated in the reading for The Club were amazing. They were invested in the play just as much as I was, which made the experience even more enjoyable. They expressed their contentment with the subject matter and truly resonated with the time period. It was also an eye-opener for me because this was the first time that this group of actors had an opportunity to work together. As minorities, they said they typically compete with each for roles and it was gratifying for them to finally act side by side. One of the actors actually moved his schedule around to ensure he could participate. With tears streaming down his face he said, “This story reminds me of my brother and I want to be here.” It was touching to see how he connected with The Club. It was also a sign that art was manifesting life and it became clear that this play would touch people’s hearts.
